Ted Brown

"Ted is a driven, creative, energetic level designer and narrative designer. When Ted and I worked at Buzz Monkey Software, he consistently built some of the best and most interesting levels in our games. When we worked together at Zynga, he was one of the few narrative designers who could capture the voice, the history, and the whimsy necessary to make FrontierVille a hit among players."

Narrative Design

For the last 18 months, I have worked as a Game Writer for Zynga, writing characters, stories, and dialog for Pioneer Trail and ChefVille. Prior to that, I was the creative lead on an original Facebook game called Sparks, writing the backstory and missions. And, going even farther back, I wrote dialog for actors and pro skaters on GUN and Tony Hawk's Project 8.

If I'm not making games, I'm writing stories. I love it when I get to do both.

Game Writing Docs

Pioneer Trail: Jack's Worrisome Wedding

On Pioneer Trail, I had to create interesting story arcs using a bare minimum of words. This particular feature was a challenge, as I had to introduce a new character who would marry an existing character, build up resentment to the bride, then have her take off with the money. All in about 35 sentences!

Sparks: The World and You

I tried to give Buzz Monkey's short-lived social game a proper fictional background, one that would sow seeds for future designers to reap. This was on top of mood boards to sync everyone up, and an "emotional heart" piece our artists created to be our guiding beacon.
